Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They shall be in a Garden lofty: 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein will be a bubbling spring: 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 And cushions ranged 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever will turn away (from the Truth), 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
