Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which doth not nourish nor release from hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the Mountains, how they are fixed firm?- 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
