Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 Scorched by burning fire, 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Glad with their endeavour (for their good deeds which they did in this world, along with the true Faith of Islamic Monotheism). 9 In a Garden on high, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 and goblets set at hand, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not at all a guardian over them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
