Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 wherein thou wilt hear no empty talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 therein uplifted couches 13 And goblets ready placed! 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the hills, how they are set up? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
