Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Therein shall be a spring running! 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 Goblets set, 14 And cushions lined up 15 and outspread carpets. 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Him Allah shall torment with the greatest torment. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
