Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 And within it are couches placed on high, 13 And cups put in place 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the Sky, how it is raised high?- 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 you are not their keeper. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
