The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Of the mighty tiding 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 And made the night a cover. 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and We have set therein a glowing lamp. 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that Day when the trumpet shall be sounded, you shall come in droves, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 and where they will taste neither coolness nor any drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
