Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Labouring (hard in the worldly life by worshipping others besides Allah), weary (in the Hereafter with humility and disgrace). 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 no food for them but cactus thorn 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 [and] there will be thrones [of happiness] raised high, 13 And drinking-cups ready placed, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do (these unbelievers) not observe the camels: how they were created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 and how the earth is spread out? 20 (Muhammad), preach; you are only a preacher. 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
