Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 Burning in the scorching fire, 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 For them there will be no food except from a poisonous, thorny plant 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 with their striving well-pleased, 9 in a sublime Garden, 10 Where they shall hear no (word) of vanity: 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 raised couches, 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 And arranged carpets. 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Will they not regard the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 Thou art not over them a warden. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
