Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 roasting at a scorching fire, 4 Drinking from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 in a garden sublime, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And chosen goblets. 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and well spread carpets. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And the mountains, how they were fixed; 19 And the earth, how it is made a vast expanse? 20 Therefore do thou give admonition, for thou art one to admonish. 21 thou canst not compel them [to believe]. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 Ours is surely then to reckon with them. 26
