Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there reached you the report of the Overwhelming [event]? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They shall roast into the scalding Fire, 4 They will be given to drink from a boiling spring, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 therein uplifted couches 13 and prepared goblets, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the Earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Allah will punish him with direst punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
