Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 troubled and tired as a result of their deeds in the past. 3 they shall burn in a Scorching Fire; 4 Given water from the boiling spring to drink. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which will neither fatten nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In an elevated garden, 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 and raised couches, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then, surely, it is for Us to call them to account. 26
