Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Certainly the news of the calamity that will overwhelm has come to you! 1 [Some] faces, that Day, will be humbled, 2 Labouring, wearied out, 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 They will be given drink from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food except bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 well pleased with their striving, 9 in a Garden on high, 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains, how they are firmly fixed, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will punish him with a mighty Punishment, 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
