Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Has the news of the overwhelming event reached you? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 Which shall neither nourish nor avail against hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Well-pleased with their endeavour, 9 In a lofty Paradise. 10 wherein they will not hear any vain talk. 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And goblets set at hand 14 and cushions arrayed 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 DO, THEN, they [who deny resurrection] never gaze at the clouds pregnant with water, [and observe] how they are created? 17 how the heavens are raised up high, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And the earth – how it has been spread out? 20 Therefore remind, you are only a Reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 But whoever turns back and disbelieves, 23 God will punish them with the greatest torment. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
