Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 labouring, toilworn, 3 They will enter in the hot blazing Fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that Day shall be delighted, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 In it there shall be a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And linen spread out. 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 Then surely upon Us is the taking of their account. 26
