Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)

Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS NEWS OF the Overpowering Event reached you? 1 On that day (many) faces will be downcast, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 Entering into burning fire, 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 well pleased with the result of their striving, 9 In the high empyrean, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 There is a stream of running water in it; 12 Wherein are couches raised 13 Goblets set, 14 Cushions arranged, 15 And rich carpets (all) spread out. 16 Do they not look at the Camels, how they are made?- 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 and on the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Therefore advise; indeed you are a proclaimer of advice. (The Holy Prophet is a Remembrance from Allah.) 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 Save the one who turns away and disbelieves 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
