Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Labouring (hard), weary,- 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces, that Day, will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 in a Garden on high, 10 They shall hear therein no vain discourse; 11 therein a running fountain, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 And arranged carpets. 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 how heaven was lifted up, 18 how the mountains were hoisted, 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a watcher over them; 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 In Our hands are their accounts. 26
