Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
HAS THERE COME unto thee the tiding of the Overshadowing Event? 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 They shall have no food except bitter dry thorns 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Whereas other) faces on that Day will be joyful, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein are thrones raised high, 13 And chosen goblets. 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets spread out. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 So remind, [O Muhammad]; you are only a reminder. 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
