I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 and the night when it retreats 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Surely it (hell) is one of the gravest (misfortunes), 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 alike to every one of you, who want to go forward or hang back. 37 Every soul will be (held) in pledge for its deeds. 38 Except those on the right side. 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 Concerning the guilty: 41 "what led you into hell?" 42 They will reply, "We did not pray, 43 Nor did we feed the wretched. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 "And we used to deny the Day of Judgment, 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 So the intercession of the intercessors will not benefit them. (The disbelievers will not have any intercessor.) 48 Then what is wrong with them that they turn away from admonition, 49 As if they were startled donkeys – 50 That had fled from a lion? 51 Forsooth, each one of them wants to be given scrolls (of revelation) spread out! 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 But none will keep it in remembrance except as Allah wills: He is the Lord of Righteousness, and the Lord of Forgiveness. 56
