Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 given to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 Which neither give strength nor satisfy the hunger. 7 [And] some faces will on that Day shine with bliss, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups set at hand. 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 What, do they not consider how the camel was created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 how the mountains are set firm, 19 And at the earth - how it is spread out? 20 So, [O Prophet] exhort them: your task is only to exhort, 21 You are not a warden over them, 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Truly, to Us is their return; 25 Then verily on Us is their reckoning. 26
