Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Have you heard about the Overwhelming Event? 1 On that Day faces shall be humbled, 2 Working [hard] and exhausted. 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 well-pleased with [the fruit of] their striving, 9 They will live in an exalted garden 10 where they will hear no idle talk. 11 In it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 And cushions set in a row, 15 and outspread carpets. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 And at the mountains - how they are erected? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Remind them; you are surely a reminder. 21 you are not their keeper. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 him will God cause to suffer the greatest suffering [in the life to come]: 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
