Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 On that day the faces of some people will be humbly cast down, 2 Toiling, weary, 3 roasting at a scorching Fire 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 well-pleased with their striving. 9 In an elevated garden, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 raised couches, 13 and goblets laid out, 14 and cushions ranged, 15 And silken carpets spread. 16 So do they not see the camel – how it has been created? 17 And the sky: how it was raised high? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not at all a warder over them. 22 However, he who turns away and disbelieves - 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 For to Us will be their return; 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
