Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Has there come to you the narration of the overwhelming (i.e. the Day of Resurrection); 1 On that Day, there shall be downcast faces, 2 Laboring, toiling, 3 they shall enter a burning Fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food for them save the bitterness of dry thorns, 6 which neither sustains, nor satisfy hunger. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 in a garden sublime, 10 where they will hear no idle talk, 11 therein a running fountain, 12 and couches raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 and cushions arrayed in rows, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Have they not looked at how the camel is created, 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 And the mountains – how they have been established? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 Indeed only towards Us is their return 25 and then it is for Us to call them to account. 26
