Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Has not there come to you the news of the overwhelming calamity? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated, 2 Travailing, worn. 3 They will [enter to] burn in an intensely hot Fire. 4 their drink shall be from a boiling spring. 5 no food for them except thorny plants 6 Neither nourishing nor banishing hunger. 7 On that very Day some faces shall be radiant with joy, 8 With their endeavour well pleased. 9 In a high Garden. 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a flowing spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 And cups put in place 14 And cushions ranged 15 and carpets outspread. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the heaven, how it is raised? 18 and on the mountains, how they are firmly set up, 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So render good counsel, for you are simply required to counsel, 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But whoso is averse and disbelieveth, 23 Allah will chastise him with the most terrible chastisement. 24 To Us is surely their returning; 25 Then indeed only upon Us is their reckoning. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
