Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Faces on that day humbled, 2 toiling [under burdens of sin,] worn out [by fear,] 3 The while they enter the Blazing Fire,- 4 and will be made to drink from a fiercely boiling spring. 5 No food for them save bitter thorn-fruit 6 unfattening, unappeasing hunger. 7 In that day other faces will be calm, 8 Well-pleased because of their striving, 9 in a sublime garden, 10 hearing there no babble; 11 Therein will be a running spring, 12 In which are high thrones. 13 Goblets placed (ready), 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 and on the sky, how it is raised aloft, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 And at the earth, how it is spread out? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 You are not charged to oversee them. 22 Other than him who turns his back and denies, 23 Allah will punish them with the greatest punishment. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 And Ours their reckoning. 26
