Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the dawn; 1 And by ten nights, 2 And by the even and the odd (of all the creations of Allah). 3 And by oath of the night when it recedes 4 Is there not an evidence in this for those who have sense? 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 Who were very tall like lofty pillars, 7 the like of which was never created in the countries? 8 and with the Thamud, who cut out [huge] rocks in the valley, 9 and with Pharaoh of the [many] tent-poles? 10 led rebellious lives, 11 and exceeded in corruption therein. 12 so your Lord unleashed on them the scourge of punishment: 13 your Lord keeps an eye on (all evil-doing people). 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him by exalting him and bestowing His bounties upon him, he says: “My Lord has exalted me.” 15 But when He tests him by restricting his provision, he says: 'My Lord has humiliated me' 16 No. In fact you are not generous to the orphans, 17 And do not urge one another to feed the needy. 18 And you devour inheritance all with greed, 19 and love the riches, loving them ardently. 20 When the earth is crushed into small pieces 21 and (when you find yourself) in the presence of your Lord and the rows and rows of angels, your greed for riches will certainly be of no avail to you. 22 And Hell is brought near, that day will man remember, but of what avail will then remembering be? 23 He will say: "Alas the woe! Would that I had sent ahead something in my life." 24 So on that day, no one punishes like He does! 25 and none can bind with bonds like His. 26 Serene soul, 27 return to your Lord, well-pleased, well-pleasing. 28 "Enter then among My votaries, 29 enter My Paradise! 30
