The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ Nay! I swear by this city. 1 and you are dwelling in this city -- 2 And by the giver of birth, and whom he fathered, 3 indeed, We created man in trouble. 4 Does He think that no one will ever have control over him? 5 He says: "I have wasted a great deal of wealth." 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not made for him two eyes 8 and a tongue, and a pair of lips, 9 And guide him to the parting of the mountain ways? 10 But he did not venture to scale the difficult steep. 11 And what will make you know the path that is steep? 12 It is the freeing of a slave; 13 Or the feeding on a day of hunger. 14 to an orphan near of kin; 15 or to a needy person in distress; 16 Then will he be of those who believe, and enjoin patience, (constancy, and self-restraint), and enjoin deeds of kindness and compassion. 17 They are the people of the right hand (and will succeed). 18 And those who denied Our signs, are the people of the left. 19 Upon them shall be a Fire that will hem them in. 20
Almighty God's Truth.
