Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ No! I swear by this land, 1 and you are a lodger in this country. 2 And the begetter and whom he begot. 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 Does he think that no one has power over him? 5 He boasts, "I have spent wealth abundant!" 6 Does he then think that no one sees him? 7 Have We not given him two eyes, 8 And a tongue and two lips? 9 and guided him on the two highways? 10 But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 To free a neck (from the burden of debt or slavery), 13 or giving food upon a day of hunger 14 of an orphan near of kin, 15 Or of a homeless needy person! 16 And then being among those who believed and advised one another to patience and advised one another to compassion. 17 These are the people of the right. 18 But those who deny Our revelations are the people of the left hand: 19 who will be engulfed in the fire. 20
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
