Al-Balad
The Town (Al-Balad)
20 verses, revealed in Mecca after Q (Qaaf) before The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ I do call to witness this City;- 1 and thou art a lodger in this land; 2 or by the great father and his wonderful son (Abraham and Ishmael) 3 Verily, We have created man in toil. 4 Does he think that no one can overpower him? 5 He boasts, "I have spent wealth abundant!" 6 Does he think that no one sees him? 7 Did We not give him two eyes, 8 and a tongue and two lips? 9 And shown him the two ways (good and evil)? 10 But he hath made no haste on the path that is steep. 11 and what shall teach thee what is the steep? 12 It is freeing someone's neck from slavery; 13 or the feeding, upon a day of [one's own] hunger, 14 Of a related orphan, 15 or of a needy [stranger] lying in the dust 16 And to be of those who believe and exhort one another to perseverance and exhort one another to pity. 17 Those are the Companions of the Right Hand. 18 And those who denied Our signs, are the people of the left. 19 Over them shall be Fire closing round. 20
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
