The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
By the sun and his brightness, 1 And [by] the moon when it follows it 2 The day when it reveals his radiance, 3 by the night when it covers the earth with darkness, 4 And the heaven and Him Who made it, 5 and by the earth and That which extended it! 6 by the soul and how He formed it, 7 and inspired it with its sin and its piety, 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 And he will indeed fail who corrupts it. 10 The tribe of Thamud denied with rebellion. 11 What time the greatest wretch of them rose up. 12 Then the apostle of Allah said unto them: beware of the she-camel of Allah and her drink. 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 And He (Allah) feared not the consequences thereof. 15
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
