The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 By the moon when it followeth it, 2 by the day when it brightens the earth, 3 The night when it covers him over, 4 And by the heaven and Him Who built it; 5 And the earth and Him Who spread it, 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 And inspired it with the wickedness thereof and the piety thereof, 8 He who purifies it will prosper, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 In their presumptuous insolence the Thamud called the Truth a lie 11 when the most wretched of them uprose, 12 Then Allah's Messenger warned them: “Hands off the she-camel and her drink!” 13 But they cried him lies, and hamstrung her, so their Lord crushed them for their sin, and leveled them: 14 He does not fear the result (of their destruction). 15
Almighty Allah's Truth.
