Al-Shams

The Sun (Al-Shams)

15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

By the sun and its morning brightness, 1 And the moon when it follows the sun, 2 and by the day as it reveals its glory 3 By the night when it envelopeth it, 4 And [by] the sky and He who constructed it 5 The earth and its spreading out, 6 by the soul and Who shaped it 7 And inspired it (with conscience of) what is wrong for it and (what is) right for it. 8 those who purify their souls will certainly have everlasting happiness 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 Thamood belied in their pride 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 And the messenger of Allah said: It is the she-camel of Allah, so let her drink! 13 In response they belied him, and hamstrung the she camel – so Allah put ruin over them because of their sins and flattened their dwellings. 14 And He fears not its consequence. 15

True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
