The Sun (Al-Shams)
15 verses, revealed in Mecca after Destiny (Al-Qadr) before The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the sun and his morning brightness 1 and by the moon as it follows it; 2 By the day when it glorifieth it. 3 and by the night as it envelopes the sun; 4 by the heavens and that (Power) which established them, 5 And [by] the earth and He who spread it 6 by the soul and how He formed it, 7 and how it is imbued with moral failings as well as with consciousness of God! 8 He has succeeded who purifies it, 9 And miserable is he who hath buried it. 10 Samood gave the lie (to the truth) in their inordinacy, 11 When the basest of them broke forth 12 The Messenger of God told them, "This is a she-camel, belonging to God. Do not deprive her of her share of water". 13 Then they belied him and they hamstrung her; wherefore their Lord overwhelmed them for their crime, and made it equal. 14 And He feared not the consequence thereof 15
God the Almighty always says the truth.
