Al-Layl
The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night, when it envelops, 1 And by the day as it appears in brightness; 2 And the creating of the male and the female, 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 As for one who gives [to others] and fears [God], 5 and believes in the finest, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And rejects goodness, 9 We shall surely ease for him the Path of Hardship (the Fire). 10 his wealth shall not avail him when he perishes. 11 Surely upon Us rests the guidance, 12 And to Us belong the End and the Beginning. 13 I have now warned you of a Blazing Fire, 14 whereat none but the most wretched shall be roasted, 15 The one who denied and turned away. 16 Far removed from it will be the righteous 17 even he who gives his wealth. to purify himself 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 acting only for the sake of his Lord the Most High -- 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
