Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 With it came down the spirit of Faith and Truth- 193 upon thy heart, [O Muhammad] so that thou mayest be among those who preach 194 In plain Arabic speech. 195 Truly it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 And if we had revealed it to any of the foreigners 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 They will not believe in it until they see the grievous Penalty; 201 But the (Penalty) will come to them of a sudden, while they perceive it not; 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Seek haste then they with our torment? 204 Therefore observe, that if We give them some comforts for some years, – 205 And then the promise that is given to them, does come upon them- 206 what avail will their past enjoyments be to them? 207 We never destroyed any town without first sending to them warning and guidance. 208 and reminded: for, never do We wrong [anyone]. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 they are not supposed to do so. Nor do have they the ability for such a task. 211 Truly, they are expelled from hearing. 212 So do not call any other god beside Allah lest you become of those who will be punished, 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 If they disobey you, say, "I bear no responsibility for what you do." 216 and place thy trust in the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace, 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 And your movement among those who prostrate. 219 Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the Satans come down? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 They pass on what is heard, and most of them are liars. 223 And as to the poets, those who go astray follow them. 224 Have you not seen them wandering and bewildered in every valley 225 And how they say that which they do not? 226 Not so the true believers who do good works and remember God with fervour and defend themselves only after they are wronged. The wrongdoers will soon know how evil a turn their affairs will take. 227
