The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 and by the day when it unveils. 2 And by Who created the male and female, 3 you strive in various ways. 4 For him that gives and fears (Allah) 5 And believes in Al-Husna. 6 observe piety, and believe in receiving rewards from God. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and rejects what is right, 9 We will indeed make smooth for him the path to Misery; 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 BEHOLD, it is indeed for Us to grace [you] with guidance; 12 and to Us belong the hereafter and the worldly life. 13 Therefor have I warned you of the flaming Fire 14 [the fire] which none shall have to endure but that most hapless wretch 15 who rejected the Truth, calling it falsehood and turned his back on it. 16 For, distant from it shall remain he who is truly conscious of God: 17 [He] who gives [from] his wealth to purify himself 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 surely, he shall be satisfied. 21
