The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Read! And your Lord is the Most Generous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 Because he sees himself free from want. 7 Indeed towards your Lord only is the return. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 a servant [of God] from praying? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or orders piety? 12 Bethinkest thou, if he belieth and turneth away? 13 Does he, then, not know that God sees [all]? 14 No indeed; if he does not desist, We shall drag him by the forelock; 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 We shall call the guards of Hell. 18 (Muhammad), never yield to him! Prostrate yourself and try to come closer to God. ۩ 19
True are the words of God the Almighty.
