The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Recite, and your Lord is the most Generous - 3 He Who taught (the use of) the pen,- 4 Taught man what he knew not. 5 And yet, but yet man is rebellious, 6 for he believes himself to be self-sufficient. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 What is your opinion – regarding him who forbids – 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Hast thou considered whether he is on the right way, 11 Or enjoineth piety? 12 What thinkest thou? If he cries lies, and turns away - 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 Then, let him call upon his council (of helpers), 17 We, will call the Zabania (the harsh angels of Hell). 18 No indeed; do thou not obey him, and bow thyself, and draw nigh. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
