The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Recite in the name of your Lord Who created, 1 Created man from a clot. 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 Who teacheth by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 By no means: Verily man exorbitateth. 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 Surely to your Lord is your return. 8 What thinkest thou? He who forbids 9 A bondman when he offers the prayer? 10 What is your opinion if he were upon guidance, 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 What will happen if the prohibiting rejects the Truth and turns away from it!? 13 Knows he not that Allah does see (what he does)? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 his lying, sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 No, not at all. Never obey him. But prostrate yourself and become nigh (to your Lord). ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.

Notes and Instructions
قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
