The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read with the name of your Lord Who created, 1 created man from a clot [of blood]. 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Has taught man that which he knew not. 5 Yes indeed, man is surely rebellious. 6 that he sees himself sufficed. 7 However, (all things) will return to your Lord. 8 Have you seen him who forbids 9 a servant (of Allah) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Seest thou if he denies (Truth) and turns away? 13 Did he not realise that Allah is watching? 14 Nay! if he desist not, We would certainly smite his forehead, 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So let him call on his concourse! 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
