Thorns (Al-Masad)

5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)

In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful

The power of Abu Lahab will perish, and he will perish. 1 His wealth will not avail him or that which he gained. 2 Burnt soon will he be in a Fire of Blazing Flame! 3 along with his wife, that carrier of slanderous tales; 4 Will have a strap of fibre rope around her neck. 5

True are the words of God the Almighty.
