The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heaven and the night-comer 1 And what will explain to thee what the Night-Visitant is?- 2 The very brightly shining star! 3 No soul is there but hath over it a watcher. 4 So let man look - from what is he created. 5 He is created from a drop emitted- 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely He (the Creator) has the power to bring him back (to life). 8 On the day when hidden things shall be made manifest, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By the heaven which returneth, 11 And by oath of the earth which flourishes with it. 12 Lo! this (Qur'an) is a conclusive word, 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Verily they are plotting a plot. 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
True are the words of God the Almighty.
