▼ 15 The Hijjr Valley
Al-Hijjr 6 of 6
And verily, the dwellers of Al-Hijr (the rocky tract) denied the Messengers. 80 for We did vouchsafe them Our messages, but they obstinately turned their backs upon them 81 They used to hew dwellings in the mountains to live in security. 82 Then the Blast caught them in the morning 83 and of no avail to them was all [the power] that they had acquired. 84 We created not the heavens and the earth, and all that is between them, save in truth. Surely the Hour is coming; so pardon thou, with a gracious pardoning. 85 Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator. 86 And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an. 87 Do not direct your eyes towards the things We have given to some of their couples to enjoy, and do not at all grieve because of them, and take the Muslims within the folds of your mercy. 88 And say, "Indeed, I am the clear warner" - 89 (Of just such wrath) as We sent down on those who divided (Scripture into arbitrary parts),- 90 Who have made the Quran into parts. (i.e. believed in a part and disbelieved in the other). 91 Now by thy Lord, We shall surely question them all together 92 For that which they have been working. 93 Therefore expound openly what thou art commanded, and turn away from those who join false gods with Allah. 94 Surely We will suffice you against the scoffers 95 and believe other things to be equal to God. They will soon know the truth. 96 Indeed, We know your chest is straitened by that they say. 97 So hallow thou the praise of thy Lord, and be thou of the prostrate. 98 And go on worshipping your Lord till the certainty (of death) comes upon you. 99
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.

Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
