۞ [And God will thus command:] "Assemble all those who were bent on evildoing, together with others of their ilk and [with] all that they were wont to worship 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 "What is the matter with you? Why do you not help one another (as you used to do in the world)?" 25 indeed, on that Day they will surrender themselves. 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 (The followers will say to their leaders): “You used to come to us from the right hand.” 28 They will reply: "Nay, you yourselves were not believers. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 Thus we misled you. Lo! we were (ourselves) astray. 32 Then lo! this day they (both) are sharers in the doom. 33 Verily, thus shall We deal with all who were lost in sin: 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 Not in the least. He has brought the truth and confirmed the other messengers. 37 Most surely you will taste the painful punishment. 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 Save the chosen slaves of Allah (faithful, obedient, true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 40 will have their determined sustenance 41 a variety of delicious fruits; and they shall be honoured 42 In gardens of delight, 43 on couches facing each other. 44 A drink will be passed round among them from a flowing spring: 45 White, delicious to those who drink. 46 No headiness there shall be therein, nor shall they be therewith inebriated. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 As if they were [delicate] eggs, well-protected. 49 They will turn to each other and ask questions. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 "(That) when we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed (be raised up) to receive reward or punishment (according to our deeds)?" 53 Allah will say: will ye look down? 54 So he looked down and saw him in the midst of the Fire. 55 'By God', he said, 'you had almost ruined me. 56 But for my Lord's blessing, I were one of the arraigned. 57 “So are we never to die?” (The people of Paradise will ask the angels, with delight, after the announcement of everlasting life.) 58 Other than our first death, and we shall not be punished? 59 “This is, most certainly, the supreme success.” 60 For this the toilers should strive." 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of al-Zaqqum? 62 which We have made as a test for the wrongdoers. 63 For it is a tree that springs out of the bottom of Hellfire: 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 On top of it they shall have a brew of boiling water, 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 Verily, they found their fathers on the wrong path; 69 But they make haste (to follow) in their footsteps. 70 And indeed before them, most of the former people went astray. 71 We had certainly sent warners to them. 72 See then the end of those who were warned, 73 Except the sincere (and devoted) Servants of Allah. 74
