The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 Have We not made the earth as a place to rest 6 And the mountains as projections (thereon)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And We send down from the clouds water pouring forth abundantly, 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And dense gardens. 16 VERILY, the Day of Distinction [between the true and the false] has indeed its appointed time: 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 The rebels' abode, 22 for the rebellious ones and they will live therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For lo! they looked not for a reckoning; 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And all things We have recorded in a Book. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
