The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ Of what ask they? 1 (Is it) of the great announcement 2 Concerning which they differ. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Again, no indeed; they shall soon know! 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And We made the night to be a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 and heaven is opened, having gates, 19 And the mountains are removed and will be [but] a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 An appropriate recompense. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 So taste you (the results of your evil actions); no increase shall We give you, except in torment. 30
