Truly it is the revelation of the Lord of all Being, 192 the Faithful Spirit has brought it down 193 Upon thy heart, that thou mayest be of the warners, 194 In the plain Arabic language. 195 Without doubt it is (announced) in the mystic Books of former peoples. 196 Was it not a sign for them, that it is known to the learned of the Children of Israel? 197 And if We had revealed it unto one of any other nation than the Arabs, 198 and he had recited it to them, they would not have believed. 199 Even so, We have caused it to enter into the hearts of harmdoers: 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 that will come upon them [on resurrection,] all of a sudden, without their being aware [of its approach]; 202 Then they will say: Are we to be reprieved? 203 Do they want to hasten Our torment? 204 Beholdest thou? if We let them enjoy for years. 205 and then the promised punishment fell upon them, 206 They would not be availed by the enjoyment with which they were provided. 207 And never did We destroy a township, but it had its warners 208 to admonish them. We have never been unjust. 209 And it is not the Shayatin (devils) who have brought it (this Quran) down, 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 Indeed they, from [its] hearing, are removed. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 Warn your nearest kinsmen, 214 and extend kindness and affection to those of the believers who follow you. 215 Then if they disobey thee, say: "I am free (of responsibility) for what ye do!" 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up (to pray) 218 And your turning over and over among those who prostrate themselves before Allah. 219 Lo! He, only He, is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 O people, shall I tell you on whom it is that satans descend? 221 They descend on every forgerer steeped in sin, 222 They listen eagerly, but most of them are liars. 223 And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them; 224 Art thou not aware that they roam confusedly through all the valleys [of words and thoughts,] 225 And that they say what they do not do? - 226 The righteously striving believers among them who remember God very often and use their talent to seek help after they have been wronged are the exceptional. The unjust will soon know how terrible their end will be. 227
