The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Recite in the name of your Lord who created - 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Recite! Your Lord is the most Honorable One, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 Hath taught man that which he knew not. 5 Nay! Verily, man does transgress all bounds (in disbelief and evil deed, etc.). 6 As he considers himself independent! 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 A bondman of Ours when he prayeth 10 Have you seen if he was upon guidance 11 or orders piety? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 No indeed; surely, if he gives not over, We shall seize him by the forelock, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Let him call on his associates for help 17 We will call the angels of Hell. 18 Yes indeed; do not listen to him – and prostrate, and become close to Us. (Command of Prostration # 14) ۩ 19
