The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 We have created the human from a (sperm) drop, a mixture, testing him; We made him to hear and see. 2 Lo! We have shown him the way, whether he be grateful or disbelieving. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 Indeed, the righteous will drink from a cup [of wine] whose mixture is of Kafur, 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, 7 those who, for the love of Him, feed the needy, and the orphan, and the captive, 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 Indeed, We fear from our Lord a Day austere and distressful." 10 Wherefore Allah shall preserve them from the evil of that Day, and shall cause them to meet brightness and joy. 11 And gave them Paradise and silk clothes, as a reward for their patience. 12 Reclining there upon couches, they shall see neither the sun nor the moon. 13 The shadows will bend over them, and low will hang the clusters of grapes. 14 And there shall be made to go round about them vessels of silver and goblets which are of glass, 15 goblets bright as crystal but made of silver, filled to exact measure. 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ Immortal youths shall go about them; when thou seest them, thou supposest them scattered pearls, 19 And when you look there [in Paradise], you will see pleasure and great dominion. 20 Upon them will be green Garments of fine silk and heavy brocade, and they will be adorned with Bracelets of silver; and their Lord will give to them to drink of a Wine Pure and Holy. 21 This is your reward. Your endeavour is fully acknowledged. 22
