The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O thou man! Verily thou art ever toiling on towards thy Lord- painfully toiling,- but thou shalt meet Him. 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he will pray for utter destruction 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Verily, he was among his people in joy! 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and by the moon, when it reaches its fullness: 18 Ye shall surely travel from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Indeed, those who are bent on denying the truth reject it -- 22 Whereas Allah knoweth best that which they cherish. 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
